About

R6 Prep is a reference for Rainbow Six Siege defender setups. This page explains who runs it, how a setup ends up on the site, and what we mean when we mark one as verified.

Right now it covers 14 maps and 47 bombsites, with 485 reference screenshots, checked against Y11S1.

What R6 Prep is

Good defender setups are hard to look up. They sit in VODs and Discord servers, or in ranked games you played a few patches ago and half remember. When you have less than a minute in the prep phase, none of that helps.

R6 Prep puts them in one place. Each bombsite has one setup: where to reinforce, where to open rotations between rooms, and where to make head, foot, and high holes. It is drawn on the floor plan, and every marker has an in-game screenshot behind it, so you can check the actual wall instead of guessing from a dot on a map.

The site only does defender site setups. There is no attacker content yet, no operator tier lists, and no stats. We would rather do one thing properly than cover everything badly. Today that means 14 maps and 47 bombsites, checked against Y11S1.

How a setup is made and verified

Every setup goes through the same steps before it goes live.

  • Source. Setups start from high-level play: pro and ranked VODs, and reference videos from the community. Different setups come from different places, so the attribution lives on each setup rather than here: every setup page carries a source link next to the byline at the top, so you can check where that one came from.
  • Re-plot. We redraw it on our own floor plans, using the same set of icons on every bombsite. A headhole looks the same on Border as it does on Kafe, so you only learn the notation once.
  • Capture. Someone loads the map in a Custom Game and takes a screenshot of each marker in the current build: the reinforced wall, the hole, the angle you will be looking from. Those screenshots are the reference library behind the markers, 485 of them so far.
  • Verify. This is what the verified date stands for. A person walks the setup in game and confirms that every reinforcement, rotation, and hole in the diagram is really there in the current build. If the diagram and the game disagree, we fix the diagram.
  • Re-check. We do this again each season, and after any patch that changes a map or an operator that matters on a site. The date on a map is the last time someone walked it.

These are solid reference setups. They are not the only way to hold a site, and they are not a copy of the current pro meta. If you run something you like better, run it.

Who maintains it

Three of us keep it up to date. We play the game, and we plot, capture, and re-check the setups on maps we know well. Between us we cover the diagrams, the screenshots, and the seasonal re-checks.

Tell us it's wrong

If a setup does not match what you see in game, let us know. Email support@r6prep.com with the map, the bombsite, and what is wrong: a wall that can no longer be reinforced, a hole that has been patched, a rotation that is not there.

We check corrections the same way we verify a setup in the first place. If you are right, we fix the diagram and update the review date.
