Solo queue attack strategies: eleven plays you can run alone

Reviewed Sep 29, 2026

In solo queue you cannot count on a synced execute, clean callouts or a teammate trading your entry. The attack plays that work there are the ones you can run on your own: a route that ends behind defenders who are busy watching your team, a power spot you hold with your own utility, or pressure from outside the site that pulls roamers back. This guide collects eleven of them across ten maps, grouped by the idea behind them. The plays come from R6Mint's video The BEST Solo Q Attacks in Rainbow Six, which shows each route in game.

Why solo queue needs its own plays

Random teammates almost always go for the obvious side of a map: the loud wall, the popular hatch, the door everyone drones first. Defenders know that too, so their roamers and their anchor end up facing the same direction. Every play below uses that: you arrive from the side nobody is watching, or make noise on a side the defense thought was safe.

Most of these plays run on sound. Walk rather than sprint, listen for footsteps, and mute voice chat for a few seconds if it drowns out the audio you need.

Backstab routes: arrive where nobody is looking

Calypso Casino, 2F Pool and Cigar Room: Finka through the aqua side

Most players learn the kitchen side of this site first and treat the aqua side as an afterthought. Go poolside, open the barricade, walk up the blue stairs and play purely off sound. Finka's boost helps you push through barbed wire placed on the stairs. While your team opens the kitchen wall on the far side, you arrive behind the defenders facing it, usually much earlier than anyone expects. Defender setup for this site.

Bank, basement: Amaru through the CEO window

This one punishes defenders who are late to their spots: trappers still setting up, or a roamer shooting drones in the janitor hallway. Check the top floor with your prep drone first. If it is empty, spawn, grapple straight into the CEO window and walk with your gun up. You end up behind anyone on main stairs, in janitor or at the stock windows. Amaru still carries breaching utility, so you can open hatches afterwards. Defender setup.

Club House, basement: an early vault and drop

Defenders on this site expect a drone and then the garage door. Put a drone in garage to make sure no one is close, then go through the vault immediately and drop in instead. Pre-aim where a defender waits for your drone, often near the fire extinguisher. Traps on your door are the main counter, so carry grenades. Defender setup.

Chalet, library side: the Sledge mixup

Drone the basement first to see if anyone is in wine cellar or the blue hall. If it is empty, open your way through with Sledge and walk up on audio. You catch anyone in bar or stock from behind, then climb the lobby stairs and backstab the player holding the mezzanine.

Hold a power spot and let utility watch your back

Lair: Gridlock on the sky bridge

Check the drone hole near the start and shoot the default camera. Take sky bridge, drone the bottom of the stairs, and throw Gridlock traps where a flanker would come from. Holding the bridge stops defenders peeking out of that window, which makes it safer for your team to breach the outside wall. Sit with one camera behind you and one ahead, and play off what they show.

Border, 2F Armory and Archives: Nomad against aggression

Hide a drone on the light in break room, where almost nobody looks. If defenders are playing extended, fire Nomad's airjabs at the doors they run out of: break door, east, and the books door. Then play the corner off your drones and pick up whoever triggers them. Against a passive defense, save the airjabs for the rooms they fall back into. Defender setup.

Pressure the site horizontally

Calypso Casino, basement: Zofia and a drone hole

Open the wall with a low hole on the right and a high one on the left. The low hole doubles as a drone hole. Go prone in the corner and wait for defenders to back away from the wall, then use Zofia's concussion grenades before you step in. If electricity is still in play, bring hard breaching and EMPs instead. Defender setup.

Nighthaven Labs, basement: Striker, high and low

Striker opens walls and carries grenades. Put a high and a low breach in, drone the hatch (a reinforced one means nobody plays above you), and grenade any traps. If close doors and cargo are empty, jump behind pillar and quick-peek from there. Even without an entry, the pressure forces roamers back to site. Defender setup.

Consulate, 2F Consul Office: Grim from the press side

Defenders like to fight at admin, so attack from the press side instead. Breach low right and high left, then land a drone on the flower pot to see the whole room. Grim's swarms push defenders out of close spots, and the low hole lets you crouch in quietly and take an early aggressive angle. Defender setup.

Fortress, 2F Commander's Office: Glaz or Deimos from the lobby side

Open the bottom lobby door to pressure whoever holds the top of the stairs. Glaz can smoke past a reinforced wall and push the hallway. As an alternative, play Deimos underneath, since that is often where the free space is: set flank cameras, track the stairs player and back them up with grenades. Defender setup.

Take the angles the defense does not plan for

Kafe Dostoyevsky, 3F: work the windows

Ranked players drop the red hatch and fight for cigar. Pros start on the windows. Claymore the bakery door, rappel up and open the windows for pressure. On the south window, hang upside down so a defender running out below cannot simply look up and shoot you. From there you can bank a grenade off a door into the pixel spot. Defender setup.

Chalet, library side: Deimos against the mezzanine

Open gaming room and library windows, but first check stock and the dark corner by the hatch. If a defender holds top mezzanine, Deimos's tracker from underneath forces them to move or fight on your terms. Defender setup.

When you do not know the map: bring a shield

On maps you rarely play, a shield overclears better than a rifle. On Emerald Plains, push the top floor from the blue side, grenade traps out of the way, and smoke off one side of the crossfire so you only fight the other.

Read the defender setup first

Every play here works because you know where defenders stand. Before you run one, open the setup for the site you are attacking and check which walls get reinforced and where the holes are. Bank's basement setup is a good place to start.
